JV LLC “Sakhalin-Shelf-Service” provided onshore support of oil and gas field exploration in Kara Sea As it was announced by press centre of JSC “NK Rosneft”, the company together with Exxon Mobil successfully completed drilling of the northern arctic exploration well “Universitetskaya-1” and explored great volumes of high quality oil. Significant contribution was made by JV LLC “Sakhalin-Shelf-Service”, which, due to its great experience of onshore support of shelf projects on Sakhalin, Kamchatka shelf and on Cuba, established its shore base in Murmansk port. JV LLC «Sakhalin-Shelf-Service» together with JSC “Oil terminal Lavna” and involving local construction contractors within the shortest period of time – within 6 months- prepared shore base, which became reliable onshore bases of exploration drilling project in Kara Sea. Being guided by Sakhalin specialists, highly professional team was gathered and from onshore they supported success of exploration drilling in Kara sea. Operations were conducted in severe climatic and weather conditions – during polar night and in eternal freezing zone. Three years ago experts doubted successful development of arctic shelf for the nearest 20 years because of very complicated works and absence of competent specialists in Russia. One of the problems was establishment of infrastructure to support marine platforms operation in the northern seas of Arctic Ocean. Nevertheless, the first step was made. Significance of achievements of all project participants, including JV LLC “Sakhalin-Shelf-Service” can hardly be overestimated. Nowadays, Murmansk shore base will be a starting point for exploration of oil and gas fields in Russian Arctic Shelf. |
